There are several audio programs around for those who wish to experiment with voice recording. Some are more complex than others, some are free, but they essentially do the same job.
Audacity. It's free, easy to use and has quite a few features. The noise reduction processing algorithm is exceptional especially considering it's free (I use this myself to remove excess noise). Recommended.
Reaper. It is more complex than Audacity, but an excellent audio application. Demo version never expires, but it is cheap and a recommended purchase if you use it a lot.
Goldwave. Another excellent audio application, not too expensive. Demo available.
