Yes, I know it's a bit early but I really want to get a head start on the Fall 2013 Band Challenge. I want to make sure that everyone has enough time to get the word out and properly promote their bands. It's time to start thinking about what you want to do. Toxic Dream bass Player, Newt Davies, is the offical Band Talent Scout for SIFF so he is going to be paying close attention to everyone this time around. He is also going to be doing personal interviews for the SIFF Buzz with each band. We are also going to be doing a few new things this time around that hopefully will be fun for everyone.

The Rules:

1. Create your band or performer. We want to encourage solo performers to participate as well. This means that bands, solo performers, bagpipe players and all other musical types are welcome to audition.

2. DEADLINE FOR BAND SUBMISSION IS JULY 15. 2013.

3. Submit your entry (or intent to enter) to this thread. Please drop us an email at [email protected]  letting us know that you are going to participate. Please give us your name, your band or performers name and your email address.

For your official entry we would like to see a picture of your band or performer as well as a brief biography.

4. Promote your band or musician starting with your sign up and until SIFF debuts on SEPT 15. Use your creativity in coming up with promotional material. Ideas include: posters, photo shoots, action photos of performances, music magazine articles and interviews to help us get to know your band or musician, music or promotional video featuring your band or musician, album covers, etc. We want to see your creativity! Starting July 15 there will be a mini challenge every other week for the bands leading up to SIFF. Participation is optional but it will give everyone a chance to get to know your band. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MACHINIMA MAKER TO ENTER!

Previous entrants, as long as they didn't win, are encouraged to try out again.

5. Be sure to give us links of anywhere you have promotional materials for your band (Facebook, tumblr, your personal website, etc). Make sure to promote your band in Fall 2013 section of the forum.

6. Winners will be voted on by the Sims Community and will perform at the SIFF Awards Show.

Big change this round: All Band Challenge participants who make a music video for their band will automatically be entered in the music category section of SIFF. Your music video can be released at any time as promotional  material and does NOT have to wait until the September 15 premier.

Post all your pictures HERE.

To be fair and let everyone know, I will be joining the band challenge this cycle with a new band.

This is utterly tempting!!  And I appreciate the early start.  Gives everyone a little extra time to get organized.  :)

That was my thought, Sylent, about the early start. Gives people more than two weeks to come up with an idea and get things together a bit before announcing their band. You so should join, it's so much fun!! :)

I am not really quite ready yet to annouce my band entry, but because I have gotten a number of questions already on what the orrical entry post is supposed to look like, and giving a visual presentation always helps, I give you the first band competition entry: Neon Tarantula.

MEMBERS: Rio Michaels, Maria Hunt, Vitoria Shui and Cayenne

BIO: Like many similar hard rock bands, Neon Tarantula got their start playing in a garage in Starlight Shores. The band was originally formed by drummer Cayenne and her brother, Kaidan, of Toxic Dream fame. The history of Neon Tarantula is rocky at best, having gone through more line up changes than any band in history due to creative differences between Kaidan and Cayenne. After firing the the sixth lead singer, a huge argument broke out between the siblings and they went their separate ways. Kaidan went on to join Shark Attack where he met Newt Davies. The two went on to form Toxic Dream.

With the exit of Kaidan it looked as if Neon Tarantula was history but Cayenne determined to make Neon Tarantula a success even if it meant going back to the drawing board. With the help of bass player Vitoria, they transformed Neon Tarantula into an all girl band. They have become one of the most popular bands on the club scene winning band competition after band competition. They have yet to be signed to a music label and have self produced their first CD, Girls School. Cayenne refuses to ask her brother to use his connections in the music industry not wanting to feel as if Neon Tarantula is riding on the coat tails of Toxic Dream's fame. With the current, and final, line up of the band they are well on their way to making their own success.

My entery is: Pixie and the Diva's of Denial

Members Karen Graham, Kesha Niles, Mary Ann Penn, Mackenzie Penn

BIO Karen is the founder of the group. She started out in Bridgeport trying to become a rockstar. Thay didn't go so well for her, so she moved to sunny Starlight Shores. Where she quickly earned a name forherself as a great singer. While competing at a simfeast she met sisters Mary Ann and Mackenzie. They became fast friends and starting practing their music together.

When Karen met Kesha at a night club rocking the house she knew then and there she had to form a band. She convinced Kesha to join and Mary Ann and Mackenzie couldn't wait to get the group noticed. Today Pixie and the Diva's of Denial are the top band in Starlight Shores. Working on their first CD they are hoping to get world wide recognition when it is released.

Introducing:

Members: Solo Performer

Biography: Grace De Luca, born in Southampton, New York first discovered her talent for singing in her school choir and the tender age of 10. Convincing her parents to embrace her passion for singing, they enlisted voice coaches when she reached 16 to hone her voice to become the powerhouse she is today. At 18 she ventured out into the world to start perusing her goal of becoming a world recognised singer. Finding her comfort zone is clubs and fusion lounges, she became enamoured with the club singers of yesteryear and the glamour the exuded. Finding her niche she started getting regular contracts from hip and well known clubs around the country. Breaking into the big time has proven harder then she imagined, but not willing to let her career stagnate she has entered SIFF 2013 to help her expose herself to a wider audience. She is not consumed by winning but here for the experience, but she will give it her best. With the help of her childhood friends, Valen and Chase Michaels acting as her business and PR representatives, she is stepping out of her comfort zone to push herself into the next phase of her life. So expect great things from this club veteran, as being a novice in matters of self promotion and producing music videos will not hold her back. Her determination, along with her passion will help her reach out and grab the shining star she has yearned after for so long, you can guarantee she will put on the performance of her life.

Grace’s promotion is run through her Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Grace-De-Luca/652274711452691

Promotion will also run through Chase’s tumblr and blogger accounts.

So that your bands wont' get lost in oblivion once SIFF is over, and to give you each a personal space in the forums for your bands we have added a new section in the Showcase section of the forums HERE just for bands. Each band can have it's own thread to post updates for your fans. This way your band action will still get noticed after SIFF too if you would like to carry on with them.

My band entry:

Excessive Solution

Members: Ben, Catketty, Gill, Jared and Kory.

Bio: Excessive Solution was born in a Local Watering Hole in Bridgeport during a jam session. Eugi's had been Catketty's favorite spot to relax away from the jet set and also her first stage. Being the director and CEO at KDK21 Productions, she would sing from time to time just for fun. One night, while she was playing guitar at Eugi's, Ben joined her and soon after came Jared, Kory and his sister Gill. After a few songs they decided to meet again and after a few weeks, Cat proposed to bring the group out in the light. Being the CEO of KDK21 Productions, she decided to produce their first single herself.

The five are animated by the same love for rock music. Their HQ is more than a studio since they brought in all sorts of video games. They always find a way to have fun despite that sometimes there is some tension between Cat and Kory (guitarist). For some times, the question has been; "Will their fights disband the group?" The only answer has been "never". Their goal is to bring their music as far as they can and enjoy every mgical moment on stage.

I had a bit of caffiene induced inspiration for a promo item for everyone to promote their bands. The idea actually came from a writers group that I belonged to a number of years back and not Magic: The Gathering (yes, I am that kind of nerd/geek). Trading cards have become kind of a popular way for people to promtoe projects, such as a book release or being a vendor at a convention. So, I am brining them to SIFF, starting with the bands.

I threw this one together for Toxic Dream just to see how it would look. I do need to work out getting the Simatography web address on them. I will get started on these later today where they can be used for promoation.
